Certain books, movies, music, people, places, scents, flavors speak to me. Not always, which makes it all the more special when it happens - that sense of being so deeply touched by something to the core. It might be something that reminds me of a forgotten memory or words that describe exactly how I am feeling (but couldn't find the words to express myself)...but when it happens, I have one of those "God, life is so beautiful" moments. Actually, I have them quite a lot these days.
I honestly, truly, deeply, madly believe that you should always, always listen to your heart. I think that when your heart wants good things and you listen to it and do all that is in your power to make it happen, good things happen. I think Paulo Coelho said it succinctly in The Alchemist - something to the effect of "when you listen to your heart's desires, the whole world conspires to make it come true."

Lyrics that speak to me these days:
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
Time is a real and constant motion always
Rolling us along
Tell me who wants to look back on their youth and wonder
Where those years have gone
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

i went thru a phase where i loved this song just before graduating college. my roommate introduced it to me. the night before my last paper was due, i pulled an all-nighter listening to this one song on repeat for eight hours. couldn't listen to it for years after that, but i love it now as i associate it with that bittersweet time of leaving college. love it!
