Second post-script on Inspiration

I also think it's why we seek out beautiful things: art, music, literature, architecture. No matter how jaded I get, I am still moved by a great novel, a beautiful work of art, breathtaking nature. As an adult, maybe because I am jaded, I need reminders that the world is beautiful (because it's depressing to think that the world is all about work and the pursuit of money, success, prestige, etc.). Seeing beauty in the world - whether through the innocent eyes of a child, a kind act, a moving piece of music or art - it's what buoys us.
