Wake up, send the man off to work. Patter around the house, drink coffee, check emails. Put on a mini-dress with a cinch belt, makeup, stiletto heels. Return unnecessary purchase in Union Square. Meet girlfriend to attend a political fundraiser for congressional candidate not in my district (or state). Attend fancy political fundraiser luncheon attended by coiffed men in tailored suits and socialites in St. John's two-pieces. Get a massage. Go to the gym. Primp for Louis Vuitton-Amfar benefit. Pack for weekend trip to DC.
Ah yes, this is actually my day today - a day in the life of a real not-rich not-housewife of San Francisco. (I recently got hooked on Real Housewives of New York during my trip to Vancouver).
Telling a story is all about spin. The above description is an accurate description that could sound like a day in the life of a spoiled housewife. But it lacks fundamental details that turn it into what is actually a day in the life of an understaffed, desperately-in-need-of-hours, single associate of San Francisco. So same story, more details:
Wake up, send the boyfriend off to work after packing him a quick breakfast for the road. Patter around the house, clean the kitchen, drink instant Taster's Choice coffee, check work emails to determine whether I need to go into the office. Put on a mini-dress with a cinch belt, makeup, stiletto heels (seriously, this is a pretty typical outfit for me...whether for work or not. Put a jacket or cardigan over the dress and it instantly turns into a work dress). Return unnecessary purchase, a $200 black dress I bought to wear on my birthday but decided in light of the economy and job unsecurity I probably don't need, in Union Square. Meet girlfriend to attend a political fundraiser for congressional candidate not in my district (or state) because her husband has a connection through a gym friend who happens to be politically and socially well connected and the congressman apparently wants some young voters in attendance. Attend fancy political fundraiser luncheon attended by coiffed men in tailored suits and socialites in St. John's two-pieces and hope to God no one asks me about my views on various political issues that I absolutely cannot talk intelligently about. Get a $25 30-minute chair massage, the cheapest and best massage deal around. Go to the gym to attempt 5 miles in 55 minutes. Primp for Louis Vuitton-Amfar benefit, which I fanangled an invite to from same friend whose husband is socially well connected. Pack for weekend trip to DC to visit la madre and two cousins who recently had babies.
