Hipsters

I don't get hipsters. What's their "thing"? Why do they like to wear flannel and weird glasses and have asymmetrical haircuts? Why do they seem to try to look purposefully ugly and unkempt? Why do they rage against the mainstream, when they are in fact the mainstream?

I'm old.
