I'm a little bit country

I have a little secret - sometimes, I like me a little country music. Sweet, sappy, folksy love songs with a country twang - they just get right to me. As stereotypical as it is, and even though of course I know better having been born and raised in Cali, country music is pure Americana to me. It reminds me of long drives on endless highways, "thank you ma'ams", summer thunderstorms, barbecue and corn on the cob. And I do know something about all of the above, having grown up in Virginia and done a fair bit of travel to the deep South.

I was listening to Tim McGraw and Carrie Underwood today and it made me nostalgic for America...even though "country" America is nothing like the America that is "my" America. Strange.
